© ZLTWhile the Zeppelin Foundation celebrates it's 100 year anniversary today in Friedrichshafen the Zeppelin NT #04 finally reaches the US in Beaumont as reported earlier so the rumors have been true. The airship left on Friday September 27th from the Airbus Dock in Hamburg (nice picture also here at unser-wedel.de) and is arriving today at the Port of Beaumont at the Roll On - Roll Off Dock. There is a nice picture of the dock on Panoramio you can see it here. Since I have been on vacation and super busy with the 7th International Airship Convention I couldn't provide any coverage of the Zeppelins travel from Hamburg to Beaumont but Airshipventures has published a lot just have a look at their Blog they even have Live tracking of the Ship. Airshipventures has also released a new revamped website with details on the tours they will fly and the costs. Ticket prices range from $495 for a one hour tour from Moffet Field or Oakland to $975 for a 2 hour tour of the Wine Country. To learn more about the tours and the routes they are flying check the Tours page of Airship Ventures. For the first commercial flight of the Zeppelin NT in the US Airshipventures have partnered with the Steampunk Band Abney Park. On Halloween 2008 that's October 31st 2008 you can fly with Abney Park on board the Zeppelin. There were only 8 tickets available when the promotion started so hurry if you want to get one it's $785.00 US for the flight. There is a special website with a bit more information here. If your wallet is not big enough or you would prefer to not pay for your flight, you could win a ride in the Airship if you can guess the Name of the N-704LZ which is just it's registration. So head over to the Contest at the Airship Ventures website to win a free flight in the first commercial passenger Zeppelin in the US in over 70 years. The contest ends November 10th after that the Airship will be officially christened with a big celebration and announcement of the winner.
